Soviets (Ricky) v. Germans (Gabe) 1000 points Manhunt
Soviet victory*
Gabe played an 8 dice army of veteren fallshirmjager supported by a flame hetzer. I played a 12 dice soviet mounted recon platoon supported by a zis 3, T-60 and M3 Scout car for transport.
A Soviet victory was declared on turn 7. The Astricks is caused by the fact that the soviets illegally assaulted from their transport to win the game (something Gabe and I did not know was illegal until after we left the shop.) If time permits, we plan on replaying the game.

15, Dezember 1944 Kampfbericht (Battle report) 4. Fallschirm Abteilung Stadtrand der Ardennen (outskirts of the Ardennes)
Reports of a planned American bombardment followed by an offensive push. High Command issued orders to defend our base and take out as many enemy units as possible. If our mission is successful, we have orders to make an immediate counter offense while the enemy is weakened.
17:00, Everyone is in position in waiting anticipation for the assault to begin. We have a few units in the nearby forest to act as reinforcements, should we need them.
17:15, Artillery barrage heard to have struck ground several miles south of our position.
17:20 The allied forces have come into sight and clearly outnumber our own forces. However that is nothing in comparison to the superiority of German weaponry and training.
17:25 It has begun! The first enemy to come into range of our soldiers is what looked to be a medium Howitzer. Unknown to them, we had a mortar team in position to start ranging in on them. Several more of their squads are able to move in before we have a chance to engage. We anticipated this so earlier we positioned our sniper, Wilhelm "Willie" Hittermish, in a nest to pick off the dangerous and higher ranking infantry.
17:34 The Americans make an unprecedented move and bring on a tank without a hatch on top, which our soldiers take the opportunity to fire upon in order to make the crew inside to think they will be hit by a ricochet. This simply makes the crew inside mad, which then decides to fire at our soldiers that shot at them, causing a slight panic, and a few casualties. Thanks to sheer will and discipline, they keep on fighting to protect The Fatherland. 17:45 All the enemy forces have shown up for the fight and believe they have a giant advantage over us simply by overwhelming forces. They were wrong because they did not know that we were secretly keeping a score of units behind the lines to use as reinforcements.
18:00 We pulled out most of our reserves, to the surprise of the Americans, including the Panther, only because our already deployed units simply could not withstand the entirety of the Allied advance.
18:10 Panzer IV takes out a halftrack on the South side, forcing the units inside to make an emergency disembarkment.
18:13. Our mortar is finally ranged in on the hostile howitzer, making them fire at their own soldiers out of sheer panic.
18:30 Sadly we could not prevent as many losses as we hoped. A bazooka team was able to pull off a pure luck shot and destroy our halftrack, killing everyone inside. 18:44 Enemy jeep retreats after being shot at, weakening their push on the North side.
18:50 Thanks to our wunderbar training, our panzer IV is able to score a direct hit on an infantry squad behind cover, killing them all.
19:10 Panther continues to advance causing fear in all nearby enemies.
19:30 The artillery observer we had called in a strike in the center of the enemy lines, causing many of them to be in the blast zone. Though we expect it to be some time before it arrives.
19:50 The artillery strike arrives earlier than expected, causing massive damage to the enemy forces.
20:05 Allied forces are making a last ditch effort in an attempt to capture our base.
20:07 Remainder of our forces in hiding finally enter the field and eliminate all enemies near our line.
20:10 All American forces left start retreating. Victory!
Mission is a success. Time for our forces to make the counter offense we had planned earlier..
This will be our Battle of the Bulge.
Signed. Colonel Klink.

Ray vs Gabe(Ray Victory) German Panzergenadiers V German Waffen SS
After --- Action --- Report --- Battle --- Schlaubetal --- Oberstleutnant --- Erich --- Rohrmann ---
At approximately 4:15 P.M. the 3rd Panzergrenadier Division “Kampfgruppe Marotta” came into contact with elements of what we believed to be a Waffen-SS unit of some kind. After several minutes of skilled maneuvering the SS unit began to fire upon our Kampfgruppe. Reports had been circulating around the front that numerous Bolshevik units had been seen donning German uniforms, so we naturally returned fire. Approximately 45 minutes later the skirmishing had come to an end. Our veteran detachment of brave German soldiers suffered minimal casualties while the unit of cowardly Ivans had been completely annihilated by our small unit maneuvers. There are also confirmed reports from our veteran units that the enemy combatants had indeed been shouting to one another in Russian and/or Ukrainian so we are pleased to report that all Bolshevik units in the area have been neutralized. I am confident in my assessment that our kampfgruppe is still completely combat able and that the moral of my men is indeed at incredible levels. “Kampfgruppe Marotta” will be ready for our redeployment to the Western Front by tomorrow evening although I am requesting that we be redirected to the Defense of Berlin.
-First Leutnant Marotta

16 July 1944
After Action Report 3rd Platoon, Recon Company B
Horokhiv Ukraine
Comrade Captain,
Following the beginning of our offensive against the vile fascist dogs beginning on 14, July, we advanced from Brody Northwest towards Liviv facing crumbling German defenses. We were given orders to take the village of Horokhiv and advance towards Liviv. As we approached Horokhiv, a reinforced Platoon sized unit of the 17th Pz Division counter attacked into the village.
3 squads of 3rd Platoon along with squads of tank riders and volunteers separated from their units, a T-28 and their transports moved into the village at 07:15 on the 16th. 2nd squad began placing suppressive fire onto a transport near the center of town. A light mortar team advanced and fired on the halftrack, eliminating it. A squad of Pz. Grenadiers evacuated their destroyed transport and took cover in a ruined house.
The volunteers and T-28 advanced and put down suppressive fire onto the unit within ruined house as two more squads of Pz. Grenadiers advanced upon our right and center. At 07:20 a 222 recon car fired upon the T28 forcing our squad of tank riders down into cover. 1st Squad advanced placing fire onto the dismounted Grenadiers in the ruins and dismounted to assault towards the house. The volunteer unit began taking sniper fire from houses to our front, losing their NCO. I dismounted my transport along with 3rd squad, took cover in some ruins and along a hedge row and began placing suppressive fire on a squad of Grenadiers advancing towards our front.
At 07:30 an MMG cowering in houses along our left front opened up on 1st squad with little effect. 1st squad advance across the street and opened up with the flame thrower on the squad in the ruins forcing them to retreat and eliminating half their numbers. Our remaining units concentrated suppressive fire on the 222 and the squad to our front, while we continued to take ineffective MMG and sniper fire.
At 07:40, a second halftrack advanced from cover to our front placing suppressive fire on 3rd squad to minimal effect. 3rd squad courageously advanced from cover to fire their pz fausts on the halftrack to no effect. The Fascist 222, seeing the opportunity attacked 3rd squad causing some casualties. The squad to our front also fired on 3rd squad who were now trapped in the open. The 3rd Fascist squad exited their transport and fired upon 3rd squad who went down.
On our right, 1st. Squad assaulting through the house eliminating the diminished Grenadiers. The T-28 advanced and fired upon the 222 and the squad to our front eliminating the 222 and suppressing the squad. The dismounted Grenadiers to our right panicked and ran leaving their transport unprotected resulting in its destruction. The Nazi commander assaulted the remnants of 3rd squad eliminating our gallant heroes. They paid with their lives shortly thereafter.
At 0800 1st squad assaulted and destroyed the squad to our front forcing the fascist scum into retreat. As they fled, their sniper took one last shot and eliminated our mortar squad.
German Losses: 2 transports 222 recon 26 killed No prisoners taken
Our losses: 5 dead 4 wounded
