The week of January 27th we will be starting our first Star Wars Legion shop league. This will be a bi-weekly play league, with a round robin schedule. Everyone will play everyone else in the league one time, and then we’ll have a playoff (single elimination tournament) at the end to determine the league champion. The playoff will be seeded based on everyone’s round robin record, everyone will be eligible for the playoffs.
The league format has worked great at the shop in other game systems as a way of getting people playing on a regular basis, as well as providing opportunities for new players to meet up with others who play and provide a chance to play frequently enough to learn the game.
New players and those just learning are more than welcome to join the league. League games can be anything from 2 player starter set size games on up for those who are new and learning. Veterans of the game can play 800 point standard games or anything larger if they like.
The league will last a number of 2 week play periods approximately equal to the number of players, as everyone plays each other player once. If we have an uneven number of players, then everyone will have a bye week.
Signing up for this league means you are committing to following a bi-weekly game schedule, and getting in 1 game every 2 weeks. We will be asking for phone numbers upon sign up, so that everyone is able to communicate with their opponents for the week and more easily set up their matches. Players are expected to text/communicate with their opponent for the period and set up a good time during regular shop hours to meet up and play. Of course, life happens, and there are always things getting in the way of gaming, so if unable to get your game in for the week, it can be made up at a later time. If 2 opponents schedules end up just not being able to connect, then the game will simple not count for either player for league standings.
Deadline to sign up for the league is Saturday January 25th.
There will be a one time $10 entrance fee. All money collected will be paid back out in store credit through various prizes. Prizes will be part competitive, hobby, and participation. So everyone will be eligible to win something. Prizes will be paid out for the following:
Any questions, please feel free to ask.
thanks,
Chris
